COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A heat wave continued Tuesday as the high temperature for Coldwater got to at least 90 degrees for the fifth straight day.
93 was the high for Coldwater Tuesday as recorded at the Branch County Memorial Airport, which tied June 9 for the hottest day of the year so far.
This follows highs of 90 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and 91 degrees Monday.
The summer is not even half way over and already there have been nine 90 degree days in Coldwater this year.
The high for Tuesday was reached at 4:15 p.m.. Some light rain came through and dropped the temperature to 82 an hour later but the mercury went back up during the early evening hours.
Highs are expected to be in the low 90s Wednesday and Thursday before cooling to the upper 80s Friday.
Besides the heat, there is a growing concern about the lack of rainfall in recent weeks. Since 1.45 inches was measured on June 21, the Michigan State University Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm has only recorded 1.3 inches of rain with no rain being recorded from June 28 through Monday.
