COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In light of announcements made by law enforcement agencies in Sturgis and Van Buren County about the enforcement of Governor Whitmer’s executive order mandating mask usage in public indoor spaces, Branch County Sheriff John Pollack was asked by Board of Commissioners Chair Ted Gordon during Tuesday’s regular Board meeting about his agency’s plans on enforcing the order.
Pollack’s response: “We’re going to refer all calls to MIOSHA. There’s going to be a number listed to call on that (1-855-SAFE-C19), and the Governor has designated MIOSHA as the enforcement arm of her order.”
Pollack further stated that “We will respond to calls appropriately. We will try to educate those…if a business calls and there’s an issue, we will try to educate the folks on why they should be wearing a mask. But ultimately, if the business decides they don’t want them there, then there’s always the chance that there could be a trespass issued.”
