QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – After being open for the past month, Butler Motor Speedway officials say this will be their last weekend racing for a while.
An earlier post from track officials said they had permission from the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Agency to continue to run events, but now they say that statement was issued in error.
While track officials say they will be running events this Saturday night to recoup a portion of expenses incurred in preparation of the event, they then will be suspending all future events until receiving further directives from the Governor’s office and the local health department.
The track is located on Clarendon Road in Branch County’s Butler Township.
Butler Motor Speedway officials say they are asking all spectators attending Saturday’s races to practice social distancing and wear protective masks. For those who do not have masks, they will be provided.
Kalamazoo Speedway officials said earlier this week they were suspending all races through at least August 8, 2020.
Galesburg Speedway officials Thursday announced the temporary suspension of their racing season after they met with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, Kalamazoo County Health Department, Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting and their personal attorneys.
Officials with I-96 Speedway, a dirt track located between Grand Rapids and Lansing, announced Friday they have a signed agreement with county officials to return to racing next week Friday, July 24, and promised more details to come over the weekend.
