QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Village Council will be asked Tuesday to approve having the Village accept Requests for Proposals for the sale of the Village Transfer Station property on Ridge Road.
Republic Waste Services is operating the transfer station and will begin cleanup of the property in preparation of closure and relocation to Coldwater around the first of September.
Proposals to buy the two parcels of property will be accepted through the end of August.
The Village Council approved a request from Village Manager Brittany Butler last month to close the 37 acre transfer station because it has only generated about $3,000 in revenue for the village over the last couple of years. She said that is not enough money to cover their costs.
Butler said the property which includes a capped landfill has an assessed value of over $142,000.
She felt a minimum bid should be set in the Request for Proposals that will be sent out to potential buyers.
The Property is currently zoned commercial. It was formally a landfill, which was capped before 2002. The Village is not responsible for any testing or contaminates and the property is being sold as is.
