William E. Butters, age 82 went to be with Jesus on July 20, 2020.
Bill was
born to Lewis and Martha (Nash) Butters July 13, 1938 in Quincy, Michigan and graduated from Bronson
High School in 1957.
He was married to Carol Ann Rigg on July 5, 1958. They enjoyed 62 years of
marriage. Bill retired from Consolidated Freightway in 2003. Bill became an avid Bronson High School
Wrestling fan when his sons started the sport. After his youngest son won the state championship, he
continued to follow Bronson Wrestling. Bill wrestled one tournament in AAU wrestling at the of age 62
(the only time he ever wrestled) and placed fifth. His enthusiasm for cheering the team on was
undeniable. No matter how loud the gymnasium got, you could hear his voice above everyone else
saying “Don’t mess around”.
Besides watching his sons wrestle, he was able to watch many grandsons,
great grandsons and great granddaughter that followed the family tradition. Bill knew no strangers and
hugged everyone. He played his harmonica for anyone who would listen, from family events to the
person he just met in line at Walmart. He loved gospel music and he shared his love of Jesus Christ with
