BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The November general election ballot in Branch County will feature contested school board races in the Bronson, Coldwater, and Quincy Community School Districts.
The deadline for candidates to file at the Branch County Clerks office passed Tuesday afternoon and nearly a half dozen candidates filed on that day.
There are three six-year term seats up for election on the Coldwater School Board. Incumbents Clair Dean, Jeffrey Holbrook and Dr. Ed Lake and all running for another term.
Katheryn Frederick will face Kristen Lyon-Welch for a partial term seat which will expire at the end of 2024.
The Bronson School Board race will be crowded as seven candidates are vying for three seats. Seeking six year terms are Frank Barker, Bob Cary, Chad Everett, Tyson Franks, Donald Milliman, Mike Roberts, and James Webb. Roberts will be seeking another term on the board. Current board members Lorinda Ratkowski and Chuck Salek decided not to run.
There are five candidates for three seats up for election this year on the Quincy School Board. Current members Brian Preston and Erin Veysey are running for six year terms, along with Jennifer Burleson, Eric Clancy and Tim Miller. Shawnna Craig is the only candidate for a partial term seat that expires at the end of 2022.
Three candidates are running for the three seats up for election this year in the Union City school district. Running for six year terms are Paula DeJongh, Amber Herman, and Darin LaBar.
