COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A one year contract between the Branch Intermediate School District and its employee union was approved by both the B.I.S.D. Board of Education and members of the Branch Intermediate Organization on Wednesday.
B.I.S.D. Superintendent Kris Jenkins said both sides agreed to just a one year deal due to the economic conditions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
She said the deal calls for one percent across-the-board pay increases for members of the union.
In other business, Jenkins told the board the district’s preparedness plan for the re-opening of classes was still being put together in anticipation of a state-imposed August 10 deadline.
A special board meeting for August 12 was scheduled so that the plan could be formally adopted.
It’s hope the board can meet in person on that day at the Waldron Learning Center Cafeteria. If not, they will meet via Zoom like they have since March.
