The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Kalvin was born on March 21, 1959 to Paul and Betty (Sanders) Herman in Battle Creek. He attended Union City Schools and graduated in 1978. After graduation, he worked at Mathie’s Dealership as an autobody repairman. Kalvin then joined the family business, Herman’s Logging, and intermittently worked at Jim’s Body Shop in Burlington. In 1997, he became an employee of Denso Manufacturing in Battle Creek, where he worked until he became disabled in 2019.
He married Cheryl J. Green on February 8, 1980 in Branch County, she survives. Together, they gave life to five beautiful children.
Kalvin was an avid hunter. Come rain, shine or snow, he could be found hunting coons and deer, or fishing too. He simply loved the outdoors, whether he was working in his yard or tinkering in his garage. He loved country music and spending time with those he loved.
Kevin was a loving father who guided his children to be strong, independent, and loved unconditionally. He was a very generous soul and would do anything for anybody (for a dollar), just a joke for those that knew him best. He would give the shirt off his back. He was truly a beautiful soul and friend to anyone in need. He was dearly loved and will be forever missed.
In addition to his wife, Kalvin is survived by his daughter Jamie (Jeremy) Thomet of Burlington, his son Paul Herman of Hawaii and former daughter-in-law Rachel Herman of AZ, his son Kalvin Herman of Union City, his daughter Ashley Herman and her fiancé Josh Nelson of Union City, his son Austin Herman of Union City, his sister Kathy Greenlee of Union City, his brother Ken (Linda) Herman of Burlington, his brother Kevin Herman of Chicago, IL, his sister Karen Herman of Burlington, ten beautiful granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
