COLDWATER, MI. – (WTVB) – Coldwater City Council member Travis Machan asked City Manager Keith Baker Monday night to have an in person meeting in August.
The City Council has been forced to hold virtual meetings since late March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their last live meeting was on March ninth.
Baker said the current order from Governor Whitmer which allows public bodies to conduct their meetings electronically remains in effect until August 17 and those kind of meetings are allowed for 28 days after that.
Machan said he would like to a have an in person meeting on August 24.
Baker said logistics would probably not allow for a meeting in the Council Chambers but there has been talk on an in person meeting being held at the Recreation Center.
Under the Executive Order that was signed by the Governor in March, public bodies that are subject to the Open Meetings Act can use telephone- or video-conferencing methods to continue meeting and conducting business during the coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis, so long as they follow certain procedures to ensure meaningful access and participation by members of the public.
