COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council formally approved the sale for the new modular home at 74 Thompson Boulevard on Monday night.
The home was financed by a re-payable grant through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and is being sold to Jeremy and Katrina Winright for $209,000.
The city will be responsible for up to $7,000 in closing costs to assist the buyer as part of the purchase agreement.
City Manager Keith Baker said there has been additional interest about other homes and projects in the neighborhood. He added they are working with M.S.H.D.A. to turn the proceeds from the sale of the property at 74 Thompson into a second home. Baker said the second home would not have the same income requirements as the first one.
Coldwater was the first community in the state to receive funding through the state program since it met the necessary criteria of having a workforce housing shortage, is an income-eligible community and has available sites for in-fill or new construction.
The house was manufactured by the General Housing Corporation in Bay City.
