COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency has a reported a seventh person has died in St. Joseph County after testing positive for COVID-19.
The C.H.A. also reported five new coronavirus cases in Branch County on Friday which was the county’s highest one day total in over two weeks.
The latest death was the 34th in the C.H.A.’s jurisdiction since the start of the pandemic.
Hillsdale County has had 25 deaths while Branch County has recorded two deaths from the virus. The 23 deaths recorded at the Lakeland Correctional Facility as well as the number of inmates who tested positive were not included in the Branch County totals by the health agency.
As of Friday, there have been 288 COVID-19 cases in Branch County since the first one was reported in late March. Hillsdale County has had 228 cases while St. Joseph County has had 479 cases.
