COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There has been a sudden surge of reported COVID-19 cases this week in Branch County.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reports there have been 18 new cases over the last couple of days with 10 reported on Tuesday and eight more reported on Wednesday.
That brings the number of Branch County confirmed positive coronavirus cases since the first one was reported in late March up to 316.
The C.H.A. said there were seven new cases in St. Joseph County on Wednesday which brought the number of positive cases in St.Joe County up to 500.
No new cases were reported Wednesday in Hillsdale County where 234 cases have been reported so far.
The C.H.A. says 213 males have tested positive for COVID-19 in Branch County along with 103 females.
There have been 118 cases in those between the ages of 25 and 39 while 61 positive cases have been reported for those in their forties.
The 49036 area code which includes the City of Coldwater has had the most positive cases in Branch County with 227 so far.
Branch County’s seven day average of positive test rates has gone up to four-point-eight percent as of Monday and that has put the county at a medium risk level.
