COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater announced on their website Thursday afternoon the cancellation of the 2020 Apple Fest & Craft Show due to the current limitations on outdoor gatherings established by the Governor’s executive order and the health and safety concerns regarding COVID-19.
The event was scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 19.
City Manager Keith Baker stated that they held out as long as they reasonably could. Apple Fest is the City’s largest annual event, with over 150 vendors and thousands attending, which would violate the current executive order from Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Baker also said that while limitations may change in the coming weeks, delaying this decision any longer would be unfair to the vendors, volunteers, and sponsors who will be spending time and money in preparation for this event.
The City stresses that smaller events, such as “Entertainment Under the Stars” and “Hops on Monroe” will continue as planned.
If you are a vendor who would like a refund for your registration fee or have it applied to a future event, please contact the Coldwater Recreation Department by calling (517) 278-8566 or by emailing Mariah Welke at mwelke@coldwater.org.
