Robert Wayne “Rob” Jones, 50, of Union City, passed away at home Sunday, August 16, 2020.
A public service is not planned.
Rob was born August 29, 1969 in Coldwater, MI to Ferris and Paula (Weeks) Jones. He grew up in Union City, graduated with the Union City Class of 1987 and lived in the area most of his life.
He loved baseball and played it through high school. He also played hockey with friends in his youth.
As an adult, Rob worked at Firekeepers Casino and for the Hampton Company in Burlington. He enjoyed the outdoors and was into hunting, gun engraving, country music and history. He liked going to drag races and was a Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers fan who liked to attend games when he could.
Rob was an upfront and private person who had a great laugh and gave really good hugs. He loved to tease and be teased. He enjoyed sitting on the floor playing board games. He always said his dad was his best friend.
Rob loved Michigan and the U.P., but not as much as he did his daughter, Mandie. He never missed one of her dance recitals and would sneak backstage beforehand to give her roses. He was very proud of Mandie’s accomplishments. Their Cedar Point trip and their car rides together to grandparents’ houses will be remembered as special times.
Left to cherish their memories of Rob are his daughter, Mandie Jones of Kalamazoo; his parents, Ferris (Eva) Jones of Union City and Paula (Gerald) Eaton of Sturgis; his siblings, Eric Jones of Coldwater and David (Samantha) Dilts of Bronson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rob was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Arrangements are being handled by Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation.
