Douglas L. Shelton, 88, of Coldwater, was reborn into heaven Friday, August 21, 2020 at Masonville Place in Coldwater.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 27, 2020
at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery with Pastor Don Gillette officiating. Military
Honors will be presented by the Coldwater American Legion Post #52, Drill Team.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Douglas was born April 15, 1932 in Hamburg, IL to Perry
& Mary (DeLong) Shelton. He served
in the US Navy and graduated with a BS in Engineering from the University of
Toledo, which he earned over 12 1/2 years of night school.
Doug married Rose
Marie Roady on Aug. 5, 1952 in Alton, IL.
She preceded him in death on March 4, 2017.
Mr. Shelton began his career in glass container engineering
at Owens-Illinois in 1950. He has held a wide variety of assignments in
technical design, engineering and production management, even translating
Russian technical papers.
Doug’s first retirement was from Owens- Illinois. He
then went to work for Toledo Engineering where he supervised the construction
of several glass furnaces in Europe, Turkey, China and Inner Mongolia, until
retiring again. He also taught at Owens Tech.
Doug was active in his church with teaching and school
activities. He enjoyed golf, bowling,
swimming, volleyball, home computing and analyzing the stock market.
Doug is survived by his daughter Sabrina Aughenbaugh of
Coldwater, his brother Harold Whitman of Godfrey, IL, his grandchildren Jeremy
(Stephanie) Aughenbaugh, Brenton Aughenbaugh all of Coldwater, great
grandchildren Ellie, Maddy, Gwen and Max and several nieces and nephews.
In
addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son in law Robin
Aughenbaugh.

ProMedica Coldwater Home Health and Hospice.
