DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Javier Baez homered twice and David Bote also went deep as the Chicago Cubs crushed the Detroit Tigers 9-3 Monday night. Each finished 3-for-5, with Baez driving in three runs and Bote plating four.
Alec Mills pitched seven innings for the win.
Casey Mize allowed four runs in three-and-a-third to take the loss in his second career start for Detroit. Christin Stewart hit a two-run homer in defeat.
The three-game series continues tonight as Spencer Turnbull gets the start for the Tigers, while the Cubs counter with Tyler Chatwood.
