Debra Kay Uren, 68, of Coldwater, passed away at her daughter’s home on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, surrounded by family, under the care of Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
A celebration of Deb’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Coldwater, with Pastor Dave Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2020, also at the First Baptist Church. The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation.
Deb was born December 3, 1951 in Coldwater, MI to Clifford and Alene (Canfield) Fee. She attended Coldwater Community Schools, graduating in 1970. On July 8, 1972 she married William “Bill” Uren at the United Methodist Church in Coldwater. He survives. A lifelong Coldwater resident, Deb was employed with Branch County/Century Bank and Marsh’s Market in Coldwater, as well as provided daycare for 12 years. She ran the family business, Country Cove Store on Union City Road, since 1994. Deb was very active for many years the Coldwater American Legion Auxiliary.
Family was important to Deb. She enjoyed supporting and attending her children's and grandchildren's events. She was their biggest fan and helped raise her grandchildren. Deb was very loyal to her family and the many friendships she cherished. She was outgoing, fun-loving, very social and tenacious. Deb enjoyed being at their store and getting to know her customers.
In addition to her husband of 48 years, Bill, Deb is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Tanyell) Uren and Kimberly (Ronald Hyslop, II) Hewitt, all of Coldwater; four grandchildren, Abygail (Jacob Risner) of Allen, Cody Hewitt, Olivia Uren and Dylan Uren, all of Coldwater; and close family friend, Kenneth Morrison, of Coldwater.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both sets of grandparents; and her in-laws James G. and Pauline (Orcutt) Uren.
