LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) – A new website started by the Michigan State Police has published data regarding traffic stops and other arrests indicates that Black drivers are being stopped at an increased number.
Factoring in variables such as race and county, the numbers showed that in 2019, Black drivers were stopped 20% of the time, while they make up only 14% of the state’s population.
A spokesperson for the MSP said that department policies and procedures will be looked to see if there any issues to deal with, and if so, changes will be made.
