ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – An Adrian man who has been sought since last month for absconding from probation in Lenawee County was booked on eight charges Thursday morning in Steuben County after a high speed pursuit which started in Hillsdale County ended in a downtown Angola crash.
22-year-old Kyle David Eichler is accused of leading police from several police agencies in three states on the high speed chase that Indiana State Police say reached speeds of over 100 miles an hour.
It was the second police pursuit Eichler was allegedly involved in following a chase in the City of Hillsdale on Tuesday night.
Indiana State Police say Williams County, Ohio Deputies had apparently tried to stop a 1993 Cadillac El Dorado that was operating with no tail lights which matched the description of a vehicle possibly involved in an earlier pursuit with the Michigan State Police.
The occupants of the vehicle were seen throwing items out the windows during the pursuit.
After hitting some stop sticks, the front tires on the suspect vehicle were shredding when it failed to negotiate a curve on the Mound in downtown Angola and crashed into a large concrete planter.
State Police say Eichler tried to make a run for it but was captured after a short chase.
The passengers in the vehicle, 20-year-old Cheyenne Leigh Huntington of Three Rivers and 19-year-old Hezekiah William Hall of Tecumseh, were taken into custody as they tried to get out of the vehicle.
They were taken to Cameron Hospital in Angola for treatment. Huntington was later flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Indiana State Police say their injuries were not life threatening.
After a medical evaluation at Cameron Hospital, Eichler was taken to the Steuben County Jail. Huntington and Hall are not being charged at this time.
