STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – One man is dead and a suspect is in custody following a shooting in Sturgis on Friday evening.
The Sturgis Police Department says police and fire were dispatched at 5:37 p.m. to the 500 block of North Prospect Street on a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived they found a 33-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The unidentified man was taken to Sturgis Hospital where he later died.
A 35-year-old Sturgis resident was later arrested by police on homicide charges in connection to the shooting.
The suspect was lodged at the St. Joseph County jail as police continue to investigate.
