DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Gas prices in Michigan are holding steady, up just 1 cent compared to last week.
Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.12 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 7 cents more than this time last month but still 48 cents less than this time last year.
Motorists are paying an average of $32 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $12 from when prices were their highest last July.
AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland says that lower gas demand has helped pump prices to mostly hold steady, but the price could drop even more due to seasonal travel changes.
“If demand continues to grow along with tightening stocks, pump prices could climb,” Woodland said in a statement. “However, as the nation settles into fall, demand will likely decline as drivers take fewer road trips.”
- Most expensive gas price averages: Marquette ($2.27), Saginaw ($2.20), Metro Detroit ($2.15)
- Least expensive gas price averages: Lansing ($2.00), Traverse City ($2.04), Flint ($2.04)
In Kalamazoo County, the average price per gallon of unleaded is listed at $1.96, making it one area in the State where prices are below average.
