BARRY COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Some residents in Barry County are calling for the resignation of their Sheriff, Dar Leaf.
This comes after footage of Leaf was released, which showed him onstage with two of the men recently charged in the kidnapping plot of Governor Gretchen Whitmer: Michael and William Null.
He was attending a Michigan Patriots Rally at Rosa Parks Circle in Grand Rapids back in May. He was also one of the sheriffs that said he would not enforce Whitmer’s stay-at-home order.

WOOD-TV asked Leaf if he regrets being on stage with the now accused men. Leaf stated, “No, I don’t even know if this was in the picture back when we were on stage together and why would I regret it? I was there as a speaker.”
Leaf spoke with reporters at FOX-17 when the allegations surfaced:

Attorney General Dana Nessel responded to the above tweet saying, “As Michigan’s top law enforcement official, let me make this abundantly clear-Persons who are not sworn, licensed members of a law enforcement agency cannot and should not “arrest” government officials with whom they have disagreements. These comments are dangerous.”
Now some Barry County residents, including Hastings Township Trustee Scott Savage, are planning to speak to the Barry County Commission and demand that Leaf steps down.
A protest calling for Leaf’s resignation was also planned for Tuesday, but it was canceled over safety concerns including possible issues with counter-protesters.
