COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan Department of Transportation has scheduled a one hour virtual public meeting for October 27 to discuss proposed 2023 road work on U.S. 12 on Coldwater’s west side.
The hearing will start at 5:00 p.m. on the 27th.
M.D.O.T. is planning to convert U.S. 12 between Willow Lane to Western Avenue from four to three lanes.
The work would include resurfacing of the road along with guardrail improvements. There would also be sidewalk, drainage and bridge work.
There has been much discussion is recent years about making improvements to pedestrian safety along U.S. 12 near the Coldwater River bridge especially after the Old U.S. 12 bridge had to be removed. Engineers determined in August of 2017 that the bridge which was built in 1920 was no longer safe to walk across or drive a boat underneath it.
Attendees will be able to join the October 27 virtual meeting to hear more about the project plans, ask questions, and provide feedback.
To join the meeting over the phone without the use of the internet, you can call 248-509-0316
