HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – Republican Andrew Fink will be the new 58th District State Representative starting on January 1 after he defeated Democrat Tamara Barnes by an almost three-to-one margin in Tuesday’s General Election.
Fink said on his Facebook page, “Thank you, 58th District, for voting and making me your next state representative! I’m ready to GET TO WORK.”
With about half of the ballots counted in the 58th District early Wednesday morning, Fink had 74 percent of the vote.
The Hillsdale small business owner had to defeat three other candidates in a rugged August Republican Primary to get on the Tuesday General Election ballot.
He will be taking over the 58th District State House seat from Eric Leutheuser who is leaving the State House at the end of the year because of term limits.
The district covers Branch and Hillsdale Counties.
