COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A long time Coldwater restaurant plans to open for dine in service on Wednesday even though the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has extended the epidemic order that restricts indoor social gatherings and other group activities until December 20.
The Goodie Shop at 30 North Monroe made the announcement on its Facebook page saying the decision was not made lightly.
The Facebook post went on to say, “As a restaurant community we have been hit hard, and can no longer survive on just take-out. With that being said please support your local establishments and realize that we are all doing our best to make difficult decisions and to just simply survive.”
Under the extension announced by M.D.H.H.S. Director Robert Gordon and Governor Gretchen Whitmer at a press conference Monday afternoon, bars and restaurants must remain closed for dine-in service, but can remain open for outdoor dining, carry-out and delivery.
The order was originally issued on November 15 in an attempt to stop surging COVID-19 cases and deaths in Michigan.
