Marilyn Shroats, age 76, of Bronson and formerly of Jonesville, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Drews Assisted Living in Coldwater.
She was born July 23, 1944 in Effingham, Illinois to Playford and Evelyn (Beach) Koss. Marilyn married Leon Shroats in 1965 and he preceded her in death in 1973.
Marilyn graduated from Jonesville High School in 1963 and she went on to attend Jackson Community College. She was formerly employed for Mark1 Plastics, Bilcore Plastics, and the Hillsdale Daily News. After relocating to Bronson, Marilyn also worked a real estate agent and she operated a window cleaning business with her companion of 45 years, Joe Balogh. Marilyn loved caring for her cats, helping people in need and wintering in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Survivors include one son, Todd (Amanda) Shroats of Jonesville; four grandchildren; one brother, Richard “Dick” (Martha) Koss of New Albany, Mississippi and her companion, Joe Balogh of Bronson.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Leon and her parents.
A visitation for Marilyn Shroats will take place Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Woodbridge Cemetery in Woodbridge Township. Face masks and social distancing are required.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Humane Society of Branch County.
