DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes and ran in for another as the Minnesota Vikings slipped past the Detroit Lions 37-35 in the season finale Sunday at Ford Field.
Matthew Stafford was 20-of-31 for 293 yards, three touchdowns and an interception but failed on a pair of two-point conversion passes in the second half. The Lions lost four straight to finish the season at 5-and-11.
Marvin Jones Jr. had eight catches for 180 yards and two TDs, while Adrian Peterson and D’Andre Swift both ran in for scores in the setback.
The Lions will have a busy offseason. They have to replace general manager Bob Quinn and head coach Matt Patrica, who were fired in late November. The Lions will pick seventh in the NFL Draft on April 29 and must address a porous defense that allowed a franchise-record 519 points.
The Lions know their opponents for the 2021 regular season. Dates and times will be announced later. Detroit will play NFC North rivals Green Bay, Chicago and Minnesota home and away.
Other home games will be against Arizona, San Francisco, Baltimore, Cincinnati and Philadelphia.
Non-division road games will be Pittsburgh, Seattle, the LA Rams, Cleveland and Atlanta.
