Joe Whitt Jr., who interviewed for the defensive coordinator job with the Dallas Cowboys, has been hired by the team to coach the secondary and be its defensive pass game coordinator, according to multiple reports.
Whitt, 42, reunites with Dan Quinn, hired earlier in the week as defensive coordinator, and Mike McCarthy. Whitt was an assistant under McCarthy in Green Bay for 11 years and served as an assistant under Quinn last season in Atlanta.
NFL Network reports that Whitt impressed Cowboys owner Jerry Jones during his interview for defensive coordinator.
Maurice Linguist and Al Harris were the Cowboys’ defensive backs coaches last season.
