DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Red Wings open the regular season at home against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight.
Detroit will play 56 games, mainly against Central Division opponents as part of the NHL’s temporary realignment for 2021. This will be the first game action for Detroit since the league suspended the 2019-20 season last March.
The Red Wings have named center Dylan Larkin as the team’s captain. Larkin had been an alternate captain for Detroit since the 2018-19 season. The Waterford native is the first player from Michigan in franchise history to wear the C.
Centers Luke Glendening and Frans Nielsen have been tapped as alternate captains for the 2021 season.
