Parker, Colo., police are conducting an investigation into whether Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller committed a crime.
A spokesman for the police department, Josh Hans, emailed the Denver Post: “The case is currently under investigation, and no information can be released at this time.”
ESPN reported that a decision on possible charges is unlikely to occur in less than a few weeks.
The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to the Post that it has yet to be receive a case for review.
The Broncos issued a statement that read, “We are aware of an investigation involving Von Miller and are in the process of gathering more information.”
The investigation is focused on text messages that Miller sent to his former girlfriend, Megan Denise, that she shared on social media, according to the Washington Post.
Denise stated online that she and Miller are expecting a child. An Instagram story post from Denise earlier this month included an ultrasound photo along with texts that she maintained were from Miller. Among the texts were:
–“I’m honestly praying for a miscarriage”
–“I hate you! … You gon get yours! Believe that”
–“And get an abortion!”
Denver7 TV also reported that Miller is being investigated regarding allegations of domestic abuse.
Denise posted Friday in another Instagram story, “at no point in our relationship was there any type of physical abuse or violence by Von, whatsoever. For anyone to say otherwise, or to speculate such, is wrong.”
Miller, 31, is a three-time All-Pro who has been selected to eight Pro Bowls. He missed all of the 2020 season because of an ankle injury that led to surgery.
