ATLANTA, GA (WKZO AM/FM) – Trae Young dropped in 38 points and dished out 10 assists as the Hawks held off the Detroit Pistons 123-115 in overtime in Atlanta Wednesday night.
The Pistons let a 17-point fourth-quarter lead evaporate. Clint Capela had a monster night with 27 points and 26 rebounds as the Hawks evened up their record at 7-and-7.
Jerami Grant poured in 32 points to pace Detroit, which slipped to 1-and-6 on the road and 3-and-11 overall. Grant extended his streak of scoring 20 or more points to 13 games. Blake Griffin had 17 points in the setback.
The Pistons return to Little Caesars Arena tomorrow night to host the Houston Rockets.
Pistons officials say rookie point guard Killian Hayes will not need surgery on his right hip. Hayes has been sidelined since he suffered the injury earlier this month.
Detroit’s number seven pick in the 2020 NBA draft will be re-evaluated after eight weeks of rest and rehabilitation.
