BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Battle Creek fire officials say they don’t know what caused a fire Thursday night at Hogzilla BBQ Smokehouse on West Columbia Avenue.
Firefighters were dispatched at 8:36 p.m. and the first crew on the scene had to set up a defensive fire attack due to the heavy fire conditions.
Additional crews arrived and eventually firefighters switched to an offensive attack to bring the flames under control but not before the fire could be seen breaking through the roof.
No one was at the restaurant at the time of the fire and the Fire Marshal remained on the scene for further investigation.
Most of the crews were on the scene for a couple of hours with the last crew leaving shortly before midnight.
No injuries were reported. A damage estimate was not available on Friday morning.
