LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Colleges and universities all across Michigan have received a recommendation from state health officials that they should test all students weekly.
The plan, outlined by the state Department of Health and Human Services, is designed to keep a closer handle on when potential outbreaks could occur.
If the schools can’t provide for weekly testing, then a program of random testing should be put in place.
Western Michigan University does not require students to be tested for the virus, but provides four free tests per year to students and staff.
Students at WMU began in-person classes this past week.
