WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) — Wednesday, Senator Debbie Stabenow introduced former Governor Jennifer Granholm at her confirmation hearing to be the next Secretary of Energy in the Biden Administration.
“Governor Granholm knows how to meet big challenges, because she’s done it before. During the Great Recession, Governor Granholm’s leadership helped rescue the U.S. auto industry and save 1 million auto jobs,” Stabenow said. “We can invest in clean energy and create millions of good-paying jobs right here at home. I look forward to supporting Jennifer Granholm’s nomination, and I’m excited about the new Michigan energy she’ll bring to the Department of Energy.”
Among other topics, Granholm expressed her support for electric vehicle production and expansion.
“I hope we can have universal acceptance and deployment of EV’s,” Granholm said. “Obviously the charging stations are a necessity. We want to make sure people can drive from coast to coast and stop everywhere in between, and feel like they’re not jeopardizing their freedom of mobility.”
