COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County seniors are being offered free tax preparation thanks to a partnership between the Burnside Center and Goodwill Industries of Central Michigan’s Heartland.
In the past, appointments have taken place at the Burnside Center. But with the COVID-19 pandemic restricting the use of the Burnside Center, the program has found a new location near the Coldwater Goodwill store at 398 North Willowbrook Road.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program offers free income tax preparation for those with qualifying household incomes of $57,000 and under.
VITA tax return preparation sites are operated by IRS-certified volunteers. All returns are electronically submitted.
The program is designed to assist people with simple returns and offers in-person appointments, drop-off service, as well as an online program where people can submit their own tax returns.
All scheduling is being handled by the Burnside Center at 279-6565. Walk-in appointments are not accepted. For more information, visit the Burnside Center’s website www.burnsidecenter.com or email your questions to info@burnsidecenter.com.
