BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Nearly a dozen Branch County businesses with a total employment of about 160 workers will be getting some much needed money through the Michigan Small Business Survival Grant program.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced this week that almost 6,000 small businesses across Michigan have been awarded $52.5 million through the program.
The Branch County businesses will be getting $15,000 apiece.
Nearly $55 million was allocated for the program which is designed to support Michigan businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Grants were awarded to eligible businesses which had to meet certain criteria.
The program was administered by local or nonprofit economic development organizations. The money for the Branch County businesses came from Southwest Michigan First.
