INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WKZO AM/FM) – The Big Ten men’s basketball tournament tips off today in Indianapolis with two first-round games. Minnesota faces Northwestern and Nebraska tangles with Penn State.
Indiana is seeded 10th and will play seventh-seeded Rutgers in a second-round game tomorrow. Michigan and Illinois are the top two seeds.
Oakland University lost to Cleveland State 80-69 in the Horizon League Championship game in Indianapolis. Jalen Moore led the Golden Grizzlies with 22 points. Oakland ends the season with a 12-and-18 record.
Top-ranked Gonzaga rallied from a double-digit deficit at the half to take down BYU 88-78 in the West Coast Conference Championship in Las Vegas. Jalen Suggs had 23 points to lead Gonzaga. Joel Ayayi pitched in 18 as the Bulldogs remained perfect at 26-and-0.
The Dragons are dancing for the first time in a quarter century. Drexel beat Elon 63-56 in the CAA Championship in Harrisonburg, Virginia, to punch their ticket to the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Mate Okros led the way with 14 points while Xavier Bell had 11. It’s Drexel’s first appearance since 1996.
