COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The last team standing from Branch County in this year’s MHSAA Boys Basketball tournament will be going for its third District Championship in four years tonight, as the Coldwater Cardinals will face the Battle Creek Central Bearcats in the championship game of the Division 1 Sturgis District.
The game starts at 7:00 p.m.; live coverage on WTVB will begin at 6:45 p.m.
The Cardinals, at 12-4, are coming off a thrilling 73-69 overtime win against the host Trojans Thursday night, while the 3-9 Bearcats have won two straight after having lost their previous seven, eliminating cross-city rival Lakeview 44-39 in overtime on Tuesday and knocking off top-seed Gull Lake 48-43 on Thursday.
Tonight’s winner will face either Portage Central or Portage Northern Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the second game of a Division 1 Regional Semifinal doubleheader at Grand Ledge.
