GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – The Pennfield Panthers have reached the M.H.S.A.A. Division Two Boys Basketball state championship game after the Panthers defeated Bridgeport 62-52 in the semifinals on Thursday night at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.
Luke Davis led the Panthers with 25 points while Shawn Gardner grabbed 10 rebounds. The 21-2 Panthers will face 19-0 Grand Rapids Catholic Central for the D2 state title Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Breslin Center.
Grand Rapids C.C. defeated Ferndale 81-55 in the other Division Two semifinal on Thursday.
In the Division Three semifinals, Schoolcraft lost to Iron Mountain in overtime 54-50 thanks to a 34 point performance by the Mountaineers Foster Wonders. Iron Mountain will face Flint Beecher for the D3 title after Beecher defeated Hanover-Horton 47-34.
