CROOKED LAKE, IN (WTVB) – A long time restaurant on Crooked Lake in Steuben County has shut down for good.
Captain’s Cabin owners Charles and Sarah Brunson announced the business closing on the restaurant’s Facebook page Sunday morning.
They stated, “After 30 odd years we are saying goodbye. We have closed our restaurant after months of speculation, rumor, and innuendo. We are a privately owned business, and we keep our decisions private. We need not explain why we are closing, as the reasons are many.”
While they thanked their customers who supported them for many years, the owners took those who “created a social media frenzy” to task. They said, “social media can be a highly effective tool to put forth a message for many. In the case of Captain’s Cabin that message was skewed on social media by many.”
The restaurant survived a major fire in the fall of 1994. KPC News reports the Brunsons bought the restaurant in 1990 from former Chicago White Sox player Jim Rivera who had run the business since the mid 60s.
