JACKSON TOWNSHIP, IN (WTVB) – An Angola woman was critically injured Tuesday morning when a semi-tractor trailer and a pickup truck collided on U.S. 20 and County Road 600 West in Steuben County.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened at 9:07 a.m. when a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by 26-year-old Raymond J. Parks of Kendallville, Indiana failed to yield at the intersection and was struck on the passenger side by the semi which was driven by 54-year-old Jose G. Fregoso of Zephyrhills, Florida.
The impact caused the Avalanche to roll over. 53-year-old Marion M. Pocock had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Angola and Fremont Fire Departments.
She was taken by Steuben County EMS to the Tri-State Steuben County airport where she was transferred to the Samaritan Helicopter and flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. At last report, Pocock was listed in critical condition with numerous injuries.
Parks was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured, while Pocock was not wearing a seat belt. Fergoso was wearing a seatbelt and uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
Assisting at the scene were the Indiana State Police, Angola Police Department, Angola Fire Rescue, Fremont Fire Rescue, Steuben County EMS, Samaritan Helicopter and Steuben County Communications.
