CALIFORNIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says a Bronson woman was injured Monday morning when she fell asleep at the wheel of her vehicle and struck a tree in California Township.
The crash was reported at about 7:50 a.m. on Fremont Road north of Waters Road.
The Sheriff’s Department says 46-year-old Merideth Kaye Goodsell was heading north on Fremont Road when she fell asleep.
Her vehicle then crossed the center line, left the road and struck a tree.
Goodsell had to be extricated from the wreckage with the jaws of life by the Fremont Fire Department.
She suffered a broken wrist and possible internal injuries and was transported by Life-Care Ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by Life-Care Ambulance and the Fremont Fire Department.
