BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson School Board approved a contract with the Bronson Education Association for the 2021-2022 school year on Monday night.
Superintendent Steve Wilson said the new contract with the B.E.A. would include a one-point-two-five percent salary increase. There were also adjustments for longevity pay. B.E.A. members after 15 years of service would get $750 at that point with an additional $750 every five years after that.
Administrators and support staff salary increases were approved by the school board for the next school year. Those employees will also get a one-point-two-five percent salary increase in 2021-2022. Support staff would also get longevity pay but unlike the B.E.A., those employees would get $250 after 15 years with an additional $250 every five years that.
In other business, the board approved the Branch I.S.D. general fund budget.
They also approved a request from the Polish Festival Committee to use the high school property for fireworks on July 15 and the Anderson School property for the garden tractor competition on July 17.
The meeting lasted for over two hours as several parents and school board members discussed issues and frustrations surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and how things have been handled in the Bronson Community School District.
