DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Jeff Blashill will return for his seventh season as Detroit Red Wings head coach in 2021-22 after signing a contract extension. He guided Detroit to a 19-27-and-10 record last year.
General manager Steve Yzerman says part of the reason for the extension is Blashill’s passion for the job, his attention to detail and his work ethic.
The organization also announced that assistant coach Dan Bylsma will not return next season.
Red Wings prospect Moritz Seider has been named best defenseman by the Swedish Hockey League. The 2019 first-round draft pick played last season for Rogle in the SHL. He had seven goals and 21 assists in 41 games along with one goal and four assists in 13 playoff appearances.
