COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater will be one of ten communities in Michigan which will host a community development fellow for the 2021-2022 program year through the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan.
The Fellowship is made possible with funding and partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
The fellowship was created to help address a common challenge Michigan’s diverse communities face which is a lack of sufficient capacity to achieve their economic development potential. Fellows work directly with existing municipalities or organizations in communities for 15-months on projects that expand organizational capacity, increase local collaboration, and remove barriers to development.
Coldwater Economic Development Assistant Audrey Tappenden says the Fellow to work alongside them on projects related to Redevelopment Ready Certification and community development in general.
The fellow is primarily funded through CEDAM, with a small contribution from the city as a host site.
Tappenden says the Fellow is scheduled to join them in early October.

CEDAM is a state-wide membership association for community economic development.
