LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan residents who spend time outside are aware that the state’s problem with ticks has increased greatly.
More reports of the insects have taken place, and while most ticks are just annoying, some are disease carriers, including the deer tick, which can carry Lyme Disease.
Authorities say that wearing light clothing and covering as much skin area as possible, using insect repellant on skin and clothing, stay on marked trail and don’t venture into dense grass or brush, do a thorough check for ticks after time outside, and taking a shower no more than a couple of hours after being outside, can help.
