WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Monday that airlines have referred about 2,500 unruly-passenger reports to the agency this year, including 1,900 cases for not wearing required face masks.
In March, FAA Administrator Steve Dickson said he would indefinitely extend a “zero tolerance policy” on unruly air passengers first imposed in January as the number of cases remain high. The FAA said Monday it had proposed another five civil penalties ranging from $9,000 to $15,000 against five airline passengers for disruptive and in some cases assaultive behavior.
