COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners formally approved a request from Commission On Aging Executive Director Amy Duff on Tuesday to continue providing hazard pay to the In-Home Services Aides.
Because of the potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus, hazard pay was previously approved from July of 2020 until this past February.
The State of Michigan has extended the program until this September.
Duff said during last week’s work session that the reimbursement from the state for hazard pay has nearly covered all expenses but she was still anticipating a shortfall of just under $1,900.
From July of 2020 through this past February, the C.O.A. requested $14,614.04 and received $12,730.14 with the shortfall being $1,883.50.
The shortfall will be covered by the Commission On Aging through their funds, grants or possible COVID-19 reimbursement programs.
