CONCORD, MI (WTVB) – They may need a new trophy case at Quincy High School after this week. The Quincy Community Schools Facebook page posted “Home of CHAMPIONS!” on Wednesday after the Quincy girls track team won the Big 8 Conference championship. This followed conference titles won by the Quincy girls softball and boys golf teams on Tuesday.
The Quincy girls finished first in the conference meet hosted by Concord as they won four of the five field events. That strong showing helped the Orioles compile 161 1/3 points followed by Jonesville with 112 points and Homer with 65 1/3 points. Bronson was fourth with 57 points while Union City finished eighth. Quincy winners were Nikkia Cronk (100 and high jump), Sophia Snellenberger (discus), Anna Richer (long jump) and Anna Turner (pole vault). Quincy also won the 400 relay. Bronson winners were Jenna Salek (200 and 400) and Alison Fish (300 hurdles). The Vikings won the 800 and 1600 relays.
Concord edged Reading by three points to win the boys meet. The Yellowjackets had 115 points followed by the Rangers with 112. Jonesville was third by just a half point over Quincy. The Comets had 86 ½ points followed by the Orioles with 86 points. Union City was seventh while Bronson was eighth. Quincy’s Rhett Reif won the 3200 while his teammate Caden Moore won the pole vault as he cleared 11 feet.
