COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County officials were generally pleased with testing this week at J and K Communications in Columbia City, Indiana on the new equipment which will be part of the county’s $9.3 million 911 Communications Project.
Factory Acceptance Tests were conducted on future consoles that will be installed at county facilities.
Sheriff John Pollack reported during Wednesday’s 911 Communications Board meeting that things went well.
Coldwater Fire Chief Dave Schmaltz said the programming of the radios is almost done.
The Branch County 911 project is designed to improve signals and communications for police, firefighters and rescue crews. Branch County voters approved a phone surcharge last November to help fund the project.
If everything goes according to plan, the new radio system is expected to be fully operational in early 2022.
